Long before Enrico Fermi questioned why there was no sign of advanced species visiting Earth – despite the vastness of the universe and the likelihood of intelligent star-faring species evolving on other planets – Douglas Prong wondered the same thing.
But instead of approaching the question with dry, mathematical answers, Prong decided there was a way for the human species to feel less alone.
It would be many years before Alan Turing even imagined the possibilities of an artificial intelligence, but Prong knew that if humankind would ever have intelligent company, we would have to create it ourselves.
His quest began with the construction of a basic sex robot.
And after one test, it ended there too.
Feeling lonely? How about some satire to keep you company?
