This week’s article in Slate on the lolcat meme (here) starts us off, with a Rocky Horror lolcat spoof and a sonnet in lolcatese. And if you want more cute, cuddly, Intertubes crap, you’ll find it at this massive lolcat compendium.
Now for the serious satire. (Heh.)
The Richmond Democrat shows how history repeats itself in: The Richmond Democrat: History for Republicans: The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.
Ahistoricality found this gem for us at historiblogography, in which Republican debaters race to the bottom. Warning: Some graphic content, including the phrase “skull-f#*k@ng”. See, now you have to go. But it is graphic. Our advice is to hang in there for the punch line.
Over at Conservathink you’ll be happy to learn that a Creationist museum to open in Kentucky; Flat Earth Society, Eugenicists United to follow suit.
Jason Pollack presents Hey, it’s not dirt. It’s space grime..
sammy benoit presents Tom Friedman is Only Trying to Protect The Jews.
Seun Osewa argues the case for Progressive Taxation And Exam Score Redistribution.
Rickey Henderson has his Weekend Running Diary (Of Doom), which we hope IS satire.
And finally, this discovery from Ahistoricality is worth a read, even if it isn’t technically satire: Victorians, Meet the Web: An Academic MST. BTW, and MST is probably a “Masters Thesis Statement,” but we don’t HAC (have a clue).
Thanks to everyone for submitting their posts. If you submitted something, and it didn’t make it into the carnival, it’s not that we don’t appreciate your work, but we just felt it wasn’t right for the carnival. In fact many submissions were quite funny/interesting/entertaining, but not really satire. Defining that is a moving target, but you’ll find our take on it here, in an essay on Satire’s Ugly Sisters. Thanks to these fine folks for helping us with webby-stuff: the Blog Carnival for their form; and the listings at the Ubercarnival, and at the Blog Carnival too. Cat pic by Marvin (PA)
