  ...Clara Wilton Smigglesworth

Clara Wilton Smigglesworth, the Mad Woman of Mount Brydges, was a celebrated harpist before succumbing to a "fever of the cranium" in the late 1890s. After her breakdown Miss Smigglesworth became a scourge of public events in Middlesex County. During one of her "spells" she would appear to be quite harmless, playing a soft tune, when she would suddenly scream "Sieve? Sieve! Bwah Ha ha ha!" and  beat the nearest bystander senseless with her harp. She was hung in 1906 for the murder of a Mr. William Thudworth St.John-Smith.
