Okay, here’s the thing. Stephen Harper and his conservatives should be ousted because they think we’re stupid.
Normally, that’s not a good enough reason for a ruling party to lose their influence, but in this case, it seems like the fair, measured, balanced response to having someone snap their fingers in front of your eyes and say, “is anyone there? Is anyone there?”
The basic argument of the Conservative Party is that only the party with the most seats in the House of Parliament has the “right” to rule. I think you’ll find that hundreds of years of Constitutional Law and common sense will prove this premise totally bollixed.
This pie chart is included, only because I spent at least twenty minutes making it:

You’ll see that it shows the evil “non-democratic” coalition of parties proposing to shut down the Harper government actually received more than 54 percent of the vote. I dunno. Sounds democratic to me.
Of course, I’m still bitter that none of the 6.78 percentage of voters who think the Green Party has a point has any say in any of this silliness.
Update: Is this Bob Rae’s chance to get a coalition hat trick?
Neither alltop nor humor-blogs.com has any say in this, though they’d probably vote for the “We’re with Bigfoot Party” anyway.

Canadian politics is definitely becoming more interesting. But what the cause is high school type behavior. I wish the reason for this dispute was actually for the benefit of the country, some serious policy issue. Instead its a power grab plan and simple.
Sad really.

100% of voters like pie. This is a win-win situation.

Oh Cardinal, I think you’ve just got yourself into a heap of trouble with the Big Cake Lobby.
Titus — I think we deserve better too.

You know, that is a really sharp pie chart.
The best reason to do the coalition? The look on Harper’s face and the subsequent bloodletting in the PC Party.

Quizz, you are right. It will be hilarious to watch the top of his head literally pop off. (I’m not expecting any other reaction.)

Most Conservatives think we’re functioning under an American system, with a periodically elected King.
