Who are the Emily Chesley Reading Circle?

Dr. Maximilian Tundra
Dr. Tundra is our only (reputedly) deceased and therefore, our only inspirational member. He was one of the six founders of the ECRC.

Mark A. Rayner, Esq.
The "Squire" as he is known, is another founding member, and has held the post of "Acting" Secretary since the unfortunate gravity-assisted passing of Dr. Tundra.

John Sloan, TGCS
It is somewhat ironic that someone else's typo resulted in John's Chesleyan moniker: The "Thuder God of Cyber Space." Thuder is another founding member, and it's true: he is a cyber god. Watch out or he may cyber-stalk you.

"Foothills Mac" Ruddock
Mac is our most laconic member, except of course, when it comes to email. "Foothills" is a founding member, and The Keeper of the Fez. At one point he was The Man With the Plan, but we all wised up.

David "Flyboy" Lurie
The Flyboy (ask him what it means sometime) is the loquacious ying to Mac's laconic yang. Another founding member, the Flyboy is famous for his ability to produce peppermint "books" at inauspicious times.

Michael "The Member Formerly Known as Panties" Watson
Mofkap (as he is known around here) is our only member with an actual PhD. Despite this, he has achieved great fame for his "Chesleyan Chestnuts."

Jeff "The Dude"Black
The Dude is an enigma wrapped up in a dark psychotic swirl of butterscotch topping. You never know when this sixth founding member is apt to show up to a meeting, nor indeed, if he will stay for very long. Most frequently on the "Shrunken Members" list.

Scott "The Ghost" Hill
The spectral one is has recently joined the ranks of the erudite (and not merely rude). Bravo!

Bruce "The Invisible Guy" Trevor
Erudite Scholar with a light-bending problem.

Martin "Just Quisling" Redfern
Our newest erudite scholar who thoughtfully provided the Circle with important "Scottish" reading materials.

Neil "The Kid" Darbyshire
Erudite (and sometimes beligerant) scholar who writes cryptic and often cruelly disturbing emails. Once sent Dr. Tundra back to his "special" hotel.

Mike "He Glows" Rayner
Distant scholar and close relation to The Squire.  The Circle's second Patron, helping to pay for the "reading fees" at the inaugural Ottawa meeting.

David "TightWadBastard" Offenbacher*
Distant scholar who is the only member of the ECRC to wear two different kinds of silly hats in one evening.

Matthew "El Dorito" Lurie*
Our newest Visiting/Distant Scholar, who actually brought his own silly hat to his first meeting. Closely related to Flyboy.

*It is worth noting that both El Dorito and the TightWadBastard have been credited with helping pen "Cordially Entertaining Emily Chesley" when they had nothing to do with it.  Bravo gents!

Jason Macdonnell, OOP
Some magnificent bastard who bought drinks for the entire Circle on the only evening when The Squire was not present. Until recently, he was the only worthy willing to patronize the Circle.

You too can become a Patron by sending us enough money to pay for our "library fees" for one evening: about $200 would do.

Please stop laughing. We are serious.
